It is the last Sunday before Christmas. School is out for summer, and the year is finally letting go of everybody. A Long Afternoon is a free afternoon on the green at Bassett Reserve, on the one Sunday when nobody has anywhere else to be.

An open invitation for the whole afternoon.

Our regular market is a Sunday morning ritual, a stop on your way to somewhere. A Long Afternoon is the destination. We have chosen sociable, sunlit hours, from three until eight, and set the green up for staying: shade to sit under, flat grass to lay a rug or prop a camping chair, and water you do not have to buy. Come for an hour, or stay for the whole afternoon.

Let's cheers to our inner west.

It is a moment to breathe, to laugh, to be outside, to be together. To buy cherries and berries from the person who grew them, while somebody's kid plays guitar and the neighbours' children run around on the grass. An afternoon to enjoy music, food and a drink in the sun, a chance to celebrate summer and raise a cheers to the end of the year, with the neighbours and friends who make our corner of the inner west what it is.
