Getting in & your site

Entry point: Roberts Street, West Footscray. Follow the site map and marshals' directions to your allocated bay.

Your site is 3×3m, with a half-metre allowance either side. Keep tables, signage and stock within it, and never block walkways or emergency access lanes.

Vehicles: park snug behind your marquee. Some vehicles may need to be placed parallel behind stalls, so please use your better judgement and think about access and safety for all. If you booked a Standard Site without a vehicle, you must unload at your site and then move the vehicle offsite before 7:45am.

Caution: Council Directive Set up your marquee clear of any tree canopy or hanging branches to ensure you do not cause harm to any vegetation. There is strictly no parking over any landscaped surfaces.

What you can sell

You can only sell items approved in your application. Please don't bring anything that wasn't on your original list. Everything for sale must be grown, made or produced by you (your business).

Hot and cold food vendors cannot sell pre-canned or bottled drinks from wholesalers (for example Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Dare, Daily Juice Co.).

Noise & neighbours

We're guests in a residential neighbourhood, so please keep noise to a minimum. No horns, loud music or shouting.

Mandatory compliance, please have ready

  • Marquee weights: minimum 20kg per leg (open marquee) or 40kg per leg (enclosed), rated to at least 80kph.
  • No stakes or pins anywhere, no exceptions (underground services and safety).
  • Public Liability Insurance: minimum $10 million, Certificate of Currency current. Bring a copy.
  • Food & Beverage: registered via FoodTrader with a current Statement of Trade. Liquor vendors: current licence, displayed.
  • Gas / open flame: fire extinguisher and fire blanket on hand, CFA compliant.
  • Electrical: all gear tested and tagged, no leads across walkways.
  • Power: no powered sites, be self-sufficient. Generators by prior arrangement only (quiet inverter type, EPA/Maribyrnong noise compliant) and not before 7:30am.

Sustainability

We are a 100% single-use plastic-free market. All packaging, presentation and serviceware must be reusable, recyclable or compostable (certified compostable PLA / bagasse is fine).

Zero rubbish, leave no trace. There is no vendor bin service, so take everything you bring in home with you, including packaging, offcuts and waste water. Leave your site exactly as you found it.

Toilets & amenities

We're working on getting a port-a-loo permitted for the site. For now, the nearest toilet is Hansen Reserve, 35 Roberts Street, West Footscray, about a 7-minute walk or a 1-minute drive.

There's also a Hungry Jack's across the road. If you use their bathroom, please be respectful of a local business and their staff, and buy something while you're there.

We know on-site amenities aren't ideal for our launch. We think the open space, the beautiful conditions of the reserve and the high exposure will more than make up for it. Come self-sufficient, and bring your own water and food.

Weather, check & prepare

We run rain or shine. Check the forecast the day before and prepare accordingly, with extra weights and wind bracing on breezy days, and shade and water on hot ones. For safety we may alter layouts, relocate stalls, or delay, suspend or cancel. Follow marshals' directions on the day.
